Pollyanna Pre–school session
The children are free to enjoy the resources on offer, inside and outside. The setting is split into areas: role play, craft, construction, ICT, pre-writing, maths, science, music and reading. We also have fun during our session with dancing, singing, action songs, and parachute.
Our staff play an important part in your child's learning. They constantly talk, care and stretch your child throughout all the activities at preschool. We observe and plan in connection with the new Early Years Foundation Scheme. Staff are very experienced and help stretch your child depending on their ability.
The ways in which your child engages with other people and our environment underpins learning and development across all areas and supports your child to remain an effective and motivated learner.
Outdoors is a very important part of children's learning so whilst we have a certain amount of outdoor wet weather clothing within the pre-school for the children to use, we may ask you to provide waterproof clothing, coats and welly boots so we can adventure outside in any weather conditions!
Messy Play – please don't worry if your child gets messy. They love trying different tactile activities ie. shaving foam, water, sand playdough, cornflour, paint, glue and mud!
We try to take the childen out into the community as much as possible, often in connection with our current topic. This necessitates higher staffing ratios and we may therefore occasionally ask if a parent can accompany us on these outings.
We are able to take the children out on visits into the Bordon Inclosure, an area with a variety of semi natural habitats to learn more about nature and wildlife in the woods, which we are lucky enough to have almost on our doorstep. This woodland has many bird species including , Woodpecker, Songthrush, and Kingfisher, and of course, lots of bugs for studying! Deer can also sometimes be seen in the undergrowth.
